My youngest daughter was very sick. She ran a high temperature and couldn’t hold any liquids down. After about the fourth day I was exhausted and feeling helpless over a sickness I had no control over. I felt like I had prayed a thousand prayers.
Never questioning God, “Why haven’t you healed her?”I prayed again. During this prayer, something changed in me. I became desperate!! A scripture from Mark came to my mind. “. . . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Mark 16:18)
I stopped begging God to heal her and started rejoicing and thanking Him for her healing. My hands were on her back and I felt the heat leave her body. She was instantly healed!!
During her sickness, I believe it was a reminder of God’s healing hand. I never want to doubt or take for granted the power of God that is within us to lay hands on the sick and watch them recover.
Jesus said in John 14:12-14, “. . . He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do” . . . “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do,” . . . “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”
God is always FAITHFUL to do what He says He will do! The power is not simply in the prayer, but in the name of Jesus, when we pray and believe!
