WEEK 42 – Walk in His Light
“Daily living by faith on Christ is what makes the difference between the sickly and the healthy Christian, between the defeated and the victorious saint.” — A.W. Pierson
Overview: In this passage the apostle starts by reaffirming who he is talking about, God. They had personal proof of who Jesus was. He was God manifested in the flesh. Meaning Jesus is God. That the foundation of our faith and hope is our relationship with Jesus. Jesus is life and the light of men. He is the Word come alive for us all. If we walk in His way, flee sin, and walk in truth we have a hope of eternity with Him. We shouldn’t deny we have a sinful nature. We need to allow God to wash our sins away and cover us with His cleansing blood. Only He can remit our sins. We deceive ourselves if we think we can live without God and live sinless. Without God we have no truth, no hope, and no faith. God is the only one who can take our sinful nature and make it into something beautiful. He is the only one who can forgive our sins. If we don’t admit our sin then we say God is a liar and in turn His Word is not alive in us.
Memory verse: 7 – But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
I John 1
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard , which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon , and our hands have handled , of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested , and we have seen it, and bear witness , and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full . 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie , and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned , we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for all You have done for me and for who you are. I ask for Your forgiveness for sins that I have committed against You. I plead Your blood over my life and my soul. Wash me and help me to be the light I’m supposed to be. Help me to walk in truth and not be deceived by the world. Thank You for giving me Your Word to guide my steps daily.
