WEEK 47— EVERYBODY WILL BE HAPPY OVER THERE
“And which of us knows how near he or she may already be to the goal? That life only really begins when it ends here on earth, that all that is here is only the prologue before the curtain goes up—that is for young and old alike to think about.”
Revelation 7 gives us a glimpse into what heaven will be like. This chapter describes multitudes of believers worshiping God at His throne. What an amazing sight that will be! Can you imagine it? Thousands and thousands of believers from every nation clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands sincerely worshiping the God of the universe. Can you hear the voices of this larger-than-life crowd? All of them are crying in a loud voice to the God of their salvation. Can you imagine the angels falling to their faces and worshipping Him? And it doesn’t stop there. Not only does this chapter describe what we will be able to do when we reach heaven, it also describes the things we won’t have to worry about anymore. No more hunger, no more thirst, no more exhaustion and no more tears! What a day that will be!
Revelation 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. 5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. 7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. 8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand. 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Thank you Jesus for being the God of my Salvation. Lord, I didn’t deserve Your grace or mercy but You gave it to me so freely. I was deep in sin, but You washed me with Your blood. Help me to get closer to You every single day. I know I have to endure the pains of this life as long as I am on this earth, but I praise You for the opportunity to have eternal life. Continue to guide my steps as long as I am on this earth and I will be careful to give You all of the glory, honor and praise!
THOUGHTS…INSIGHT…What is the Lord saying to me?
1. Where are the events recorded in this scripture taking place?
2. The purpose of a seal is much like that of an impression of a signet ring because it shows ownership, authenticity or protection. Who received the seals of God on their forehead in v. 3? What is this symbolic of?
3. How many people stood before the Lamb according to v. 9?
4. What were these people wearing and what could this symbolize? (v. 9, 14)
5. Verse 14 identifies these people as “they which came out of great tribulation.” What is the meaning of this phrase with regard to the end times?
6. How did the people and the angels act before the throne of God? How will we act before God when we get to heaven?
7. According to verses 16 and 17, what won’t there be in heaven?
8. Who is sitting on the throne? What implications does this have?
9. In your own words, describe what it will be like in heaven. What will you personally be free from? What will you get to do? How will you feel? What are you looking forward to the most?
